Last Modified: April 8, 2021
DTE Energy Company and its affiliate companies ("DTE") understand your concerns about the use of your personal information and we are committed to protecting your privacy. We have implemented the following online privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") to give you a better understanding of how we handle your information.
DTE may offer one or more interactive pages or websites for children under the age of 13. DTE does not collect or maintain any personal information from children when they interact with those respective pages.
This Privacy Policy applies to DTE's websites, including the websites of its Affiliates, unless modified by a privacy policy on the Affiliate website ("Affiliate Privacy Policy"). If there is a conflict between this Privacy Policy and the Affiliate Privacy Policy, the Affiliate Privacy Policy takes precedence. "Affiliate," as used herein, refers to any entity, individual, firm or corporation, directly or indirectly, controlling, controlled by or under common control with DTE Energy Company.

For research purposes, we routinely collect the browser type, version and internet provider ("IP") address of visitors to our websites. See our policy regarding cookies below.
If you choose to use online customer services, including online payment services and product or service enrollment, or if you use our online job application process, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information ("PII"). PII may include your account number, name, mailing address, full or partial Social Security number or tax identification number, phone number, email address, financial information, etc., as appropriate and necessary for the online services you have selected. Your PII will not knowingly be shared with any other organization for commercial purposes, contrary to applicable laws and regulations.
DTE limits access to information or documents containing your Social Security number and protects the confidentiality of your Social Security number and all other forms of PII.
DTE may set cookies in order to provide automated services or surveys on its websites. We do collect the browser type, version and IP address of visitors. We also gather aggregate information on what pages you access within our websites. The information collected is only used for internal review.
DTE uses industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring PII. When we transfer certain types of sensitive information such as financial, personal, account or service information, we redirect visitors to a secure server where all communication between your computer and our servers/computers is encrypted in transmission.
To use some of our online features, a full Social Security number, or last four digits, are required for positive identification. The Social Security number is validated to verify an online user is, in fact, the individual associated with that account. This is a standard business precaution to ensure your privacy and security. Using positive identification helps protect you from fraudulent activity.
If you are using online services, such as bill payment, start or stop services, our online job application feature, password reset and/or program enrollment(s), etc., you may receive emails from us specific to your online transaction(s). You may also opt-in to receive our electronic newsletters. We do not ask for personal or account information in an email unless you have contacted us first and we need to clarify your request.
Please ensure any links embedded in any email are actually taking you to a DTE website. If you have any doubt an email is really from DTE, go to our website directly by typing dteenergy.com into your browser and navigate to the desired page.
Short Message Service (SMS) is a text messaging feature offered on a phone or mobile system device allowing you to send messages from one device to another. Data obtained in connection with SMS service only includes your cell phone number and carrier's name, the date/time and other information you may provide. We may use this information to contact you and to provide services you request from us, and to otherwise operate, develop and improve service.

Your wireless carrier and other service providers may also collect data about your SMS usage and their practices are governed by their own policies. DTE will only use information you provide to the service to transmit your text message(s) or as otherwise described in this document. Nonetheless, we reserve the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any law, regulation or governmental request. When you complete forms online or otherwise provide us information in connection with your service(s), you agree to provide accurate, complete and true information.
To enrich your website experience, DTE may provide links to other sites operated independently from DTE. DTE is not responsible for the practices and privacy policies of these other websites. These other websites may collect personal information from their visitors. We recommend you check each privacy policy to determine how your data is collected and used.
Our Privacy Policy is reviewed on a regular basis. When an update is made, the date at the top of this page is updated to reflect when content was changed.
