Property Repairs, Restoration & Tips

DTE service technicians laying new cement for a sidewalk

After our crew completes all natural gas upgrades in your neighborhood, someone from our restoration team will visit your home or business to identify necessary repairs. We will repair your sidewalk, driveway and lawn to its original condition.

Schedule

During warmer months, May through October, you can expect property repairs to be finished within 30 days after the completion of upgrades.

November through April, temporary repairs are done to keep you safe throughout the winter. Beginning in May our crews return to complete permanent repairs by June 30, weather permitting.

New Concrete

Please stay off your new concrete sidewalk for at least two days. Park on the street or somewhere else for seven days to let the driveway concrete dry completely. We will return within 10 days to remove the wood frames around the concrete and repair your grass.

Grass Repair

  • We place two inches of topsoil on the area needing repair.
  • We spread a grass seed mix to blend in with many types of common grasses.
  • We add a protective cover of straw or mulch to promote growth and retain moisture. Grass seed needs constant moisture to grow. Please use a light spray or mist setting to water your seeded patch twice daily for five to ten minutes during the first week.
  • Avoid walking on new grass until you mow it for the first time.
  • Wait until your grass is three to four inches high before mowing.

We monitor the grass growth for several weeks and throughout the following year to make sure it thrives. If we spot an issue, we’ll water the area or do whatever touch-ups are needed.

Sprinkler Heads

We repair damaged sprinklers after concrete work is finished and before grass seed is planted. If we miss a sprinkler repair, please call us and we will return to correct the problem.
